The NOLA Bungalow to Be Unveiled August 28 and 29 in Downtown New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 24 // -- New Orleans modular home company,
NOLA Homebuilder, has the solution to FEMAs temporary housing problem and
its called the NOLA Bungalow. The Bungalow is a 455 sq. ft. modular home
that NOLA Homebuilder hopes the government considers as it explores
temporary emergency housing solutions under a $400MM pilot test program.

"Our solution, the NOLA Bungalow, is much safer, more cost-effective
and provides disaster victims with a higher quality of life than the travel
trailers and mobile homes currently issued by FEMA," says Troy Von Otnott,
CEO of the company.
Maclean Carr, NOLA Homebuilders primary designer for the project,
believes FEMA needs to have a paradigm shift in their thinking regarding
emergency housing for post-natural disaster environments. "This should be
THE solution for emergency housing."
The NOLA Bungalows safety features include storm-rated tempered glass
windows, CraneBoard siding and a patent-pending temporary foundation system
-- Telepier -- that provides the house a wind rating of 150 mph. Also, the
Bungalow is powered by an energy-efficient tankless hot water system,
negating the need for a hot water heater with natural gas or propane.
At a cost of $65,000 from supply to installation, the NOLA Bungalow has
a much greater lifespan than a FEMA travel trailer, which is only 18
months. The Bungalow can be recycled by FEMA many times over.
The Bungalow will be unveiled to city, state and federal officials,
government contractors and the public on Monday, August 28 and Tuesday,
August 29 in downtown New Orleans at St. Charles Avenue and St. Joseph
Street.
"We encourage anyone visiting New Orleans for Katrinas anniversary to
stop by and take a tour," says Nurhan Gokturk, President of NOLA
Homebuilder. "We also hope that Katrina victims currently living in travel
trailers have an opportunity to come tour the alternative."
