News and Information Article
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 5 // -- For the first time, people
looking for rest and relaxation in Pennsylvania will be able to book rooms
at rustic and modern cabins at 23 state parks as part of the commonwealths
annual "Cabin Fever Month" lodging promotion.
"There is no better way to experience winter than in the heart of
Pennsylvanias woodlands," Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
Secretary Michael DiBerardinis said. "With Cabin Fever Month, you can
stay one night at a participating state park cabin during a weekday in
January and get one night for free.
"Winter is a beautiful and serene season in our parks and forests. And,
with a wealth of recreational and educational programming being offered,
there are plenty of opportunities for learning and adventure," DiBerardinis
said.
The "Cabin Fever Month" promotion, which also features two-for-one
deals at participating hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts across the
state, is being coordinated by the PA Tourism Office.
There are two types of state park cabin experiences available -- rustic
and modern. Rustic cabins feature a refrigerator, fireplace, kitchen stove
and either a woodstove or gas heater for heat, but do not have indoor
plumbing. Modern cabins offer carpeting, electric heat, bedrooms, a
bathroom and kitchen.
