Alicante is the main city. The beaches are glorious with a 6km coastline. There is a busy harbour where you can watch the hustle and bustle of city life. Gran Alacant is a popular development area being close to the beaches and the airport. The Terra Mitica is nearby.
Guardamar is an attractive town with one of the largest beaches in Spain at 11km long. There is a natural pine forest leading down to the sand dunes and sea.
Playas de Orihuela and Torrevieja are very popular due to the amount of restaurants and wonderful beaches. The shopping and all facilities are first class with excellent hospitals and schools. Particular popular neighbourhoods include Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca and La Florida.
Elche, which is lightly inland and has a charming town and was intially known for its abundance of palm trees. Golf courses are excellent here and the amenities here and excellent. If you want a quiet life, Elche is perfect.
La Mata is a small town North of Torrevieja. This sleepy town bursts into life once a week when its hosts a lively market. There are bargains to be had as many Spanish travel from far afield to visit this traditional market. La Mata also hosts some of the nicest all year round beaches along this fabulous coast line.
